The initial consultation or discovery meeting is free of charge while we determine how we can help you and you can see how we work. If agreeable we will then conduct a health check or financial review to reach a realistic assessment of your current situation and needs. We will take into account any existing financial plans you may already have and provide impartial advice about where your arrangements are good, and where they are inadequate or not covered at all.
Our advice will always be sensibly balanced in relation to your income. Our recommendations are clearly explained in writing along with the suitability of it, so that you will know exactly what you are getting and why.
As Independent Financial Advisers we offer impartial advice on financial products available from the whole market from all product providers.
Our Fees and Commissions
You can choose how we are paid for our services. You can pay a fee or we can accept commission from the provider; or a combination of fees and commission. This will be discussed initially with you. Fees (usually 0.5% of the mortgage loan amount or charged at an hourly rate) attract an additional VAT charge whereas commissions, under current legislation, do not.
Commission is paid to an IFA firm by a provider, usually an insurance company, lender or an investment house for the successful placing of business. The commission is included within the provider’s normal product charges. The amount of commission is based on a percentage of the premiums payable, sums invested or mortgage loan.
We will always tell you about any potential commission and this will be taken into account if you wish to work on a fee basis. Whether we take our remuneration by way of commission or fees will be a matter of discussion and agreement, and no charges for fees will be made without prior notification in writing.
With mortgage planning, we may require a fee for research and to double check deals which is time consuming, especially if the purchase does not go ahead. If a research fee is charged, then it may be refunded dependent on the circumstances.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. |
